Featured ON NPR Radio: Lisa, Woolfork
Founder of Black Women Stitch

2 Charlottesville, Va., residents remember the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally Five years ago a car slammed into a crowd of counterprotesters. One person was killed and a dozen injured. Lisa Woolfork was in that crowd. She remembers that day with her friend Kendall King-Sellars.

Hi, I'm Lisa, convener/founder
of Black Women Stitch

I love to sew! I am also a scholar/academic, specializing in African American literature and culture. After harrowing experiences with racist terror attacks in Charlottesville, Virginia, I decided to build a Black feminist liberation space of care that celebrates the creative lives of Black women, girls, and femmes. That’s how Black Women Stitch came to life: a combination of my sewing knowledge, academic vocation, and activist training.

This show is very important! It helps in so many ways. It helps to connect with concept of community and building resilience. In addition, it is humorous. In the times that we live, we need a podcast like this.
